(The sound of not losing my marble)

softbordersinternal is a sound drawing made by artist Rosanne Robertson following her participation in Sean Burn's Unreliable Narator tour at The Art House, Wakefield.

The drawing is made by drawing a circle boundary and keeping the marble that Sean gave to Rosanne within the circle with a pencil . The movement made to attempt to keep the marble within results in the marks made. The marks are a recording of not losing the marble. The marks and the marble also make a sound and are recorded through the structure of the surface with a contact microphone resulting in the accompanying sound piece.

For Rosanne it has symbolised the boundaries of mind and body as a site- of external and internal forces.

Rosanne Robertson is an artist based in from lesbian led art project space The Penthouse (Manchester/Hebden Bridge) which she co founded. Working with drawing, performance, sculpture, assemblage and sound she explores tensions, anxieties and relationships between body, object and environment. Human psychology implicated in improvisation and assemblage underpins works anthropomorphic in appearance as an exploration into the unconscious given form.

Ideas of otherness, queerness and imposed boundaries of dominant structures inform Robertson's practice, often depicting the boundary of ones self- what is let in and what is deflected.
