Semi Automatic is a series of installed and live works exploring the application of energy on objects during the physical act of sound making. Improvisation and the exploration of emotive states sees semi structured compositions performed unconsciously, from force of habit or dependent on the energy of the objects, the situation and moment as if performing a ritual.

Tapping on the Window is a piece that uses only contact mics on a window and widow frame and my hands with minimal metal objects. On this occasion this piece had already started before my studio door opened for the live work to begin. A small looped tap on the window was playing in the corner of the room behind the audience during Semi Automatic + Glove which only fully became apparent and audible when I quietened right down the first part of the performance. I then moved over to the widow near the tapping sound and built a fast paced rhythmic, dense, percussive piece from loops of various tapping techniques. When the piece ended the final *ping* from the video of a metal peg *pinging* as part of the installed Semi Automatic work *pinged* and the performance was over.
